What’s next? You have done some training with Ellel, you received God’s healing touch for yourself and learnt about praying for others. What might be the next step in your journey with the Lord? After Jesus had spent considerable time training His disciples, He sent them out on mission by themselves. They may have felt somewhat inadequate but they quickly learnt that Jesus knew best. It must have been an exciting learning curve for them! Growth comes when we step out into obedience to the Lord’s call to go into all the world and make disciples and proclaim His Kingdom. Ellel’s Missions are designed for people who have done the Ellel training, who have a desire to serve others and are willing to adventure with the Lord. If this describes you them possibly an Ellel Mission is ‘what’s next’ for you!
God moves so powerfully when we step out of our comfort zone. We offer the opportunity to do this under the care and within the safety of an experienced Ellel Team.
Something special happens when we start stepping out into the unknown with the Lord. God shows up in new and unexpected ways when we reach out into the world, when we visit the needy, when we look at the world through His eyes. We see miracles, we grow as disciples and we get stretched as we partner with heaven in bringing the Kingdom of God. It’s an incredible privilege to represent the Lord Jesus and as we do so, we touch His heart and experience His loving care in profound ways.
The world is a big place and we could go anywhere but we have decided to run our inaugural Ellel Missions Trip in South Africa.
Why? Firstly, because we want to partner with others in the body of Christ and Ellel South Africa has established rich relationships with other churches and Christian organizations in their land. It will be a privilege to serve and work together with others that love the Lord!
But secondly, and importantly, the Ellel South Africa Team has a wonderful depth of experience in mission work which means they can provide the security and wisdom needed in running up a mission trip.
What would I be doing?
Each participant will be an active part of the mission team- no mere spectators! We will work as a team and every person will play an active role. There are many practical as well as spiritual jobs on a Mission Trip and we will make sure everyone is involved!
What kind of work will it involve?
We want to bring the healing ministry of Jesus to the needy, partnering with local churches and organisations. In past outreaches Ellel South Africa has visited prisons, rural Pastors, townships, and disabled children. Wherever the need is real, and the door is open, we want to go. The 2025 Mission Trip will involve ministry in at least 3 different places.
Overview of the Mission experience
We want to bring you a rich, exciting but also spiritually safe experience and have put together a package to facilitate this. Alongside the actual mission field experience we offer in-depth training, a course on deeper healing, pastoral care and the safety of a caring Ellel team and Ellel Centre so that you’re best position to receive from the Lord and grow in Him as you serve and pour out to others.
The trip will be led by Herman Redelinghuys (Director Ellel South Africa and Regional Director Ellel Africa) and Peter Brokaar (Director Ellel Scotland).
Anyone who is currently serves on an Ellel Ministry Team as well as anyone who has completed our Foundational Prayer Ministry Training (NETS, Explore A and B, Modular A and B, Flagship). If you are in doubt about your eligibility please contact our office: missions.emi@ellel.org
It depends! Apart from our training days we will be busy visiting various outreach locations. It might be all day, or ½ days and it will involve some travel time. Each day will start with a devotional and we will end together with a debrief.
We will get everyone involved in the devotions, teaching sessions and prayer ministry times. But a Mission Trip also involves many practical jobs and we will involve the group in things such as keeping track of expenses, head counts, timekeeping, prop organization and much more!
Absolutely. We want to provide adequate cover and care and for this the training will be essential. Throughout the training we won’t only gain practical wisdom but God will be preparing our hearts as we build relationships within the group.
We have decided to limit the number of participants to 16 people. This way we can provide the right levels of Pastoral care and oversight. Added to the 16 will be the Group Leaders so together we’ll be about 20 people.
No. But we want to encourage everyone who wants to go but struggles financially to prayerfully fundraise for this trip. For tips and ideas these are some good starting points: https://www.signupgenius.com/Church/fundraising-ideas-mission-trips.cfm

You will need to book a flight coming into JNB, Johannesburg OR Tambo Airport (https://ortambo-airport.com/index.html#/from/JNB/country/South+Africa). This is a large, international Airport with excellent connections to most of the world. Ellel South Africa is about 1 hours’ drive from JNB.
We will arrange for collection from the airport Tuesday 13th May 2025. If you arrive early you can stay for 1 extra night at Shere House, but will have to make your own way there.
Yes, you can stay on, for example if you want to book your own extended trip or Safari, as long as you don’t exceed your maximum stay for your visitors VISA (this is 90 days for most people). Only you won’t be able to stay at Shere House after the trip has ended.
Yes, you will be required to share a bedroom. Accommodation at Shere House is limited which means we cannot offer single accommodation. When the daily mission activities are local we will return to Shere House for the overnight stay. When we go further afield we will be staying with local Christians, enjoying their hospitality.
