About the Course

Being outside, enjoying and admiring God’s creation is hugely beneficial to us body, soul and spirit providing us with respite from the busyness and intensity of life. To be able to explore one of the most beautiful parts of the country with like-minded people is an additional bonus!

This event offers you the chance to do just this with a week of inspirational walks in the stunning beauty of the Scottish countryside. With rugged mountains, rolling hills, peaceful lochs and dramatic coastline all within easy reach of Blairmore, this event allows you to explore the diversity of God’s creation and give you time and space to be with Him as well as enjoy the company of others.

The walks will be tailored to the abilities of those who attend, with the focus not being on achievement, but rather on enjoying the beauty of God’s creation and allowing Him to speak through it. Each day will begin with an inspirational devotional to set the right focus for the day and the walks will offer you time of personal reflection or times of restorative fellowship, there is no pressure either way.

Each day offers a different experience; you will be able to enjoy the raw beauty of the Moray Firth coastline (keep your eye out for dolphins), the rugged peaks of the Cairngorm mountains (you don’t have to climb one), as well as rivers, forests, heathland and hills. We will also do our best to find coffee shops for restorative drinks and cake throughout the week.

Led by Johann Hanekom, Ellel Scotland’s Deputy Director and outdoor enthusiast, you will be in safe and knowledgeable hands. We recommend all participants bring suitable walking footwear and waterproof clothes as we will not be deterred by inclement weather!

I’ve enjoyed Scottish nature and through that hear from God... God is so good and takes care of me. Through this week – the walking, the worship, the devotionals, the sharing together, the care by the team – I have come to a greater acceptance of myself.
