We are looking for a mature Christian to join our community, coupling the performance of religious duties with a non-pastoral role overseeing the catering function at Blairmore House, the home of Ellel Scotland.
Ellel Scotland, Aberdeenshire
Applications deadline: Friday 29th November 2024 29 Nov 24
Residential or Non Residential
Given our ethos as a Christian community, applicants are required to be Christians and have a heart for the healing ministry. Participation in our Christian community and performance of religious devotional duties are an essential aspect of this role and include daily team prayer and worship meetings.
As part of our Two-Year Discipleship Programme, you will have an opportunity to grow in your Christian faith through self-study of our main teaching programme “Explore” and to receive prayer ministry.
Other opportunities may include training in prayer ministry, sharing short devotional messages with guests on events, teaching and/or group leading during events.
You will be an experienced chef who can oversee the function and working of the kitchen at Blairmore House.
Working directly with the House Supervisor/Manager and the Assistant Centre Director, you will carry the responsibility for ordering and stock control, menu planning, day-to-day running of the kitchen and ensuring compliance with UK food safety and hygiene regulations.
Blairmore House has historically offered good quality meals for both the team and guests each day involving cooking for between 10 (outside of events) and 30 (during events) each day. There is an expectation that you will ensure the provision of good quality, nutritious meals whilst working within allocated budgets.
This highly responsible role requires an experienced candidate with excellent organisational skills. You will be required to organise, train and supervise a small kitchen team, some of whom have little experience and are from differing cultural backgrounds.
As part of a close-knit team, you will fill an invaluable role in fulfilling the vision for the ministry as outlined in Luke 9:11 where Jesus welcomed the people, taught them about the kingdom of God and healed those who needed healing.
This is a full-time, live-in position on a two-year fixed term contract as part of our “Service and Discipleship” programme. It comes with full board accommodation (private bedroom and shared team kitchen, bathroom and living areas) along with an appropriate allowance to cover personal expenses. The role will include evening, weekend and bank holiday working on a rota basis.
