Residential Community Member / Health & Safety Compliance Officer

We are looking for a mature Christian to join our resident community to take on the role of Health & Safety Compliance Officer alongside spiritual activities at the centre, reporting to the Centre Director and Operations Manager.

Spiritual Roles

As a part of our team you will participate in daily team prayer and worship meetings, have opportunities to grow in your Christian faith through regular attendance on teaching courses and receive prayer ministry for your own personal development. Other opportunities may include welcoming and/or hosting guests to the centre; training in prayer ministry and opportunities to share short devotional messages with the team and/or guests on events; opportunities for teaching and/or group leading during events with guests.

Practical Roles

As Health and Safety Compliance Officer you will be responsible for liaising with Ellel Ministries International Head Office in all areas of Health and Safety and keeping the centre up to date in all relevant legal requirements. These include implementing and monitoring risk assessments and all necessary policies and procedures to ensure the safety and good health of all who live, work and attend events at Pierrepont. In particular you will oversee all aspects of fire safety, prevention, evacuation procedures, first aid provision, training and emergency response. The role also covers overseeing and keeping records of risk assessment for Pierrepont personnel who travel overseas, administering and liaising with Head Office concerning insurance and overseeing all aspects of the maintenance of our motor vehicle fleet.

There will also be opportunities to work with our MSG (Maintenance, Service and Grounds)  team in a range of property maintenance projects and to minister on our healing retreats, workshops, and courses as part of our ministry team where appropriate.

Skills and Experience

The successful applicant will ideally have completed some longer-term training with us and be willing to personally own, and live in accordance with, the beliefs and ethos of Ellel Ministries. You will also have had significant experience in conducting risk assessment, analysis and administration of health and safety policies in commercial, governmental or charity setting and experience in building, construction, or mechanical work would be a further advantage.

Given our ethos as a Christian community, applicants are required to be Christians and have a heart for the healing ministry. Participation in our Christian community and performance of religious devotional duties is an essential aspect of this role. Previous experience of living in a Christian Community environment is therefore essential.

The ideal candidate will have an eye for detail, be administratively strong, sensitive, flexible and able to work in a multi-cultural setting. Good communication skills are important along with excellent people skills.

This vacancy is a live-in position with full board accommodation (private bedroom and shared kitchen, bathrooms and living areas along with a small allowance to cover personal expenses).

The job is a full-time role and will include weekend and bank holiday working on a rota basis.
