Community Member / Facilities and Property Maintenance

We are looking for a mature Christian to join our community, coupling the performance of religious duties with a non pastoral role of serving to fulfil the role of Facilities and Property Maintenance for Ellel Scotland.

Ellel Scotland, Aberdeenshire

Applications deadline: 16 Dec 22

Residential or Non Residential

We are looking for a mature Christian to join our community, coupling the performance of religious duties with a non pastoral role of serving to fulfil the role of Facilities and Property Maintenance for Ellel Scotland.

As a part of our team you will participate in daily team prayer and worship meetings, have opportunities to grow in your Christian faith through regular attendance on teaching courses and receive prayer ministry for your own personal development. Other opportunities may include welcoming and/or hosting guests to the centre; training in prayer ministry and opportunities to share short devotional messages with the team and/or guests on events; opportunities for teaching and/or group leading during events with guests.  A keenness to serve and a good, flexible work ethic are essential. This post is ideal for someone who would enjoy being part of an international Christian community and is a dual role that covers maintenance functions as detailed below:

Ellel Ministries Scotland is based at Blairmore House, which is situated on a beautiful rural estate comprising a walled garden, several lawns and mature woodlands. The house itself was built in the 19th century and has since been renovated as well seeing the addition of more modern buildings when it was a private school.

To fulfil the role of facilities and property maintenance, you will carry the responsibility for the general upkeep and ongoing improvement of these buildings and grounds. Much of your work will involve practical hands-on, day-to-day maintenance, as well as longer term projects where the planning the various tasks and purchasing of materials plays an essential part of your role. You will also be required to liaise with external specialists and contractors where required to fulfil projects that fall outside of our inhouse ability.

You will need to be self-motivated to work alone as well as having good interpersonal skills and willing to guide and teach other team members with limited practical maintenance skills.

The ideal candidate will have well-rounded skills and experience of various maintenance tasks (i.e. plumbing, decorating, basic electrical work, joinery, carpeting etc.), rather than a specialist in one trade.  Ideally, you will have a wide range of appropriate skills and not be daunted by bigger challenges and be willing to undertake these with a level of creative “out of the box” thinking. You will often be expected to work alone and on your own initiative, whilst preplanning your workload and projects alongside the Deputy Director.  The ability to legally drive in the UK would also be beneficial, although not essential.

Renumeration

This vacancy is primarily offered as a live-in position with full board accommodation (private bedroom and shared kitchen, bathrooms and living areas along with an appropriate allowance to cover personal expenses). A live out role with remuneration commensurate with experience and our charity allowance structure may also be considered for the right applicant.

We would love to hear from you if you would like to know more about serving the Lord here at Ellel Scotland. Given our ethos as a Christian community, applicants are required to be Christians and have a heart for the healing ministry.
